This is an intriguing thought, and as a potential in-class exercise has some merit, particularly as I think that this is probably true to a greater or lesser extent.

Of course the danger is of over simplifying complex realities. Though that may be a symptom of how much shared background there may have to be for the exercise to truly work; so there are cultural issues involved; ‘ten words of whose vocabulary?’ for example.
